Euro 4 emission standards became mandatory in October 2006 and Euro 5 will become manadtory in October 2009. ALL six of Ellisons vehicles added to the fleet this year, have the highest Euro 5 emissions standard.
Emissions standards are important when it comes to the environment and the City of London will soon charge for vehicles who do not comply to Euro 2 standard.
Under Euro 5, an 'ad blue' aditive is injected between the engine and the catalyst to neutralise the 'nasty' gasses, subsequently the engine management system continually monitors the emissions and will reduce the power of the engine by up to 60% if the emissions are not of the required levels. Watch out for the old slow coaches becoming slower!
